Dear Ask A Man,

Why are men so scared to commit and marry? ~ Still looking Mr. Right

Hi Still Looking,

Because we don't want someone to change us. Some women think that marriage, kids and what not, will make us settle down and change. Never going to happen. Commitment and marriage is about compromise, but we also need to have our own lives. Marriage shouldn't mean that we can't hang out with our buddies anymore, or go to our favorite sporting event. Yes we want to share our lives, but we also need to have our own space too. It's the thought of losing our identity that scares us the most.

Dear Looking,

I think that when men are scared to commit and marry, it's because they see it as an end to their freedom. To them, marriage seems like the end of nights out with the guys, Monday night football, and things like that. But most men get past their fear and realize that there is no reason for Monday night football or weekend poker games to disappear once they say "I do." Scott

So many reasons!

- Fear of making the wrong decision
- Fear of losing independence
- Fear of lifetime responsibilities (kids, mortgages, etc.)
- Reluctance to commit to just one partner
- And on and on and on it goes. It really depends on the individual man, but that's a sampling for the common reasons.

Hello,

I know many women that you could say the same about. Maybe they had a bad previous experience, or they just don't want to lose there independence or most importantly, maybe they feel they haven't meet the right person yet.
