| Dear Ask A Man, Men never seem to pay attention to me when I am in social situations, like at a party or in a bar. What is it about women that turns men off. Submitted by L.B. New England |

Dear L.B., It’s hard to generalize what a woman does to turn a guy off, as each man is different in his likes and dislikes. However I do know that we have a comfort zone and when that is compromised we stop having a good time. So from experience here are some things that are a complete turn off. At the top of my list of turn off’s is DRAMA. Guys do not like drama. We would much rather stay home and watch the evening news than partake in a night filled with crying, emotional outbursts and fighting. Granted shit happens but when it does we like to settle it immediately and then move on. Another major turn off is a woman that acts really obnoxious when she is around people she doesn’t know. I don't know what causes this but it can get really annoying especially if there are co-workers or family around because most likely the next day at work or at the next family get together there will be taunting and laughter and we have now become the court jester of the day. Comfort Zone Compromised! We do not like to feel intimidated by women either. We are men, the breadwinners, the hunters the Tarzan’s of the jungle and when a women acts as though she is the dominant force on this earth and we are meek insignificant worms, well guys get turned off and won't even attempt eye contact. As you can see I didn't mention looks at all because we are turned off by bad character, poor personalities and obnoxious behavior. It would be like dating ourselves and that’s just gross. |
Hi, I like a woman that is independent and professional. During the start of any conversation, let us know that you are slightly interested. Knowing some current events can be an icebreaker. Sometimes we shy away because we aren't able to stimulate the conversation either. Be self-assured and confident. Being overly dependent on someone you just met, being cutesey, or baby talk sometimes turns guys off. Don't rush things and relax. Mark, 30 Something... |

Hi, In that type of situation some men may prefer you to be drunk and easy. Personally I prefer a woman to be sober and capable of talking intelligently. To me there is nothing more unattractive than a drunk woman. It takes a poor excuse of a man to get a woman drunk before she will go to bed with him. Sssh Guest Panelist David, 40 Something... |
| Hello, Wrong question. By default, I won't notice most of the women in a bar. The ones I do notice will have something that attracts me. Alfred, 50 Something... |
