Your man may not be a "metrosexual" quite yet (though I hope you are hard at work trying to change that!), but he would probably really enjoy being lured into a romantic bath. Bathing together can be very intimate and romantic, and also very hot! (And I don't just mean the temperature of the water)

Bathing is an indulgence, but of course also fulfills a practical purpose: getting clean! But for this occasion, forgo the everyday products you use and focus on making this a pleasurable, erotic experience. A bath at the end of a long stressful day can help eliminate the physical and emotional symptoms of stress (headache, muscle tension, irritability, anxiety, etc.) so if your partner/lover has a demanding job, make a habit of it! This article will offer tips on what to do to prepare a special setting, and recommend some great products you can use.

Checklist:
Candles (or colored light bulbs), scented or unscented
Essential oils
Romantic music (no electronics in the bathroom! Place speakers just outside if necessary)
Soft, clean towels (Egyptian cotton is best)

Natural sponges
Bubble bath
Luxurious shampoos or conditioners
A removable shower head or shower massage (or plastic cups for rinsing)
Champagne (for a pre-bath toast or post-bath indulgence)
Finger foods (for afterwards)

Ambient Lighting
Nothing is less romantic than track lighting or, worse, fluorescent lights. If possible, change the bulbs in your bathroom lights to soft pink or sexy red. You could also replace them with a very low wattage bulb to keep things more intimate. But the best option is to forgo electric lights altogether and light some candles. Make sure you do this safely; you don't want your hair or clothing to catch fire! Use glass jars which contain the candle's flame and are set far enough back from where you will be moving around. You can set them on shelves or tables or the floor, or install sconces in the wall. When you are done and ready to move (quickly maybe!) To the bedroom, be sure to blow them out.

Fragrance
Scented candles are nice, but you may want to use unscented ones if you are also planning to use scented bath products. However, some scented candles are nice neutral or "single-note" scents. You can get wonderful candles from Diptyque. They are expensive but long-lasting and exquisitely made. They group their all-natural fragrance lines into categories like Floral, Fruity and Woody. I would recommend the rose, honeysuckle, lime tree, sandalwood, leather, fig tree, oak, basil, verbena, quince, or just about anything else. Natural scents are sexy. Overly-perfumed, artificial scents can be overpowering, so steer clear of candles with scents like "Candy Apple" or "Pumpkin Pie Spice" or "Country Meadow." Vanilla, lavender and lemon are fairly neutral if you can't decide.

You can also use an aromatherapy diffuser (these come in different forms, like rings that go on light bulbs or clay pots sued with candles) with essential oils. The best scents to get you in the mood are earthy, sensual ones. Florals like rose, jasmine and neroli are also very sensual but very delicate; these will last longer and your man will appreciate their woodsy sexiness: sandalwood, patchouli, vetiver, peru balsam, or basil. Aura Cacia makes a "Relaxation" blend that is perfect for creating a serene mood. "Heartsong" is a bit more feminine and very sexy, while "Euphoria" is uplifting.

Finally, you can add essential oils directly to the bath! Any of those listed above are fine. Any of the spicy oils (like clove, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg or ginger) may cause some irritation to the mucous membranes (like those found in the vagina), so keep these for use outside the water.

Bubbles!
Many of us enjoyed bubble baths as children but for whatever reason only female adults are supposed to enjoy them. Surprise your man with this wonderful treat. Bubbles are sexy. You can
drape them over your lover's body. You can cover up parts of your body and then slowly reveal them. Use your imagination! Lush makes some very sexy bubble baths products. They come in bar form and crumbled under running water to create mounds of naturally-scented bubbles. Try Bathos (violet), Amandopondo (soft floral), Karma (oranges and patchouli), Blue Skies (earthy), French Kiss (lots of lavender), Two-Timing Tart (sexy!), or Auntie Pamela (sensual roses). Check out their other bath products and massage bars, too!

You may want to go the old-fashioned route and add fresh rose petals to the bath.

Hair Washing
Nothing is sexier than having your hair washed by your partner. He would probably love this, too. You can use a handheld shower head, or plastic cups to pour water over each other's heads. Take your time and do a nice thorough job, with lingering loving touches and kisses, too. Be careful not to get shampoo in their eyes! Gently massage the scalp with your fingers as you lather, this feels incredible and helps improve circulation and relieves stress. If rinsing hair completely is tricky in the bath you can always rinse off in the shower when you are finished with your bath.

Sex
Okay, many of us have had sex in the shower (or tried to). But having sex in a bathtub is tricky, so you will need to get creative. Of course, you can always just forgo the tub and head to the bedroom, go to town and then share the food and drinks you have prepared. But the sensual indulgence of the bath may inspire you to experiment!

Intercourse in the bathtub is nearly impossible, even if you are lucky enough to have a huge clawfoot tub or a big Jacuzzi or hot tub. Most of the time people have hot tub sex they tend to try it on the edge instead of in the water. This is because water makes it difficult to have enough lubrication (natural or artificial) for comfortable intercourse. Oral sex is out of the question because the "giver" could drown! Again, this can be done with the recipient perched on the edge of the tub.

In your indoor bath, if the water is not too deep, you might be able to perform oral sex on your partner (or they can do you) if one of you can raise your hips out of the water. But this might get uncomfortable. One of you can stand outside the tub while the one still in the water performs oral sex (this is a variation on the hot tub method). Or one of you can kneel in the tub; again, make sure you are comfortable.

Mutual masturbation is the most flexible and easiest way to get each other off in the tub. Keep some lube nearby in case you need it. You can also use this as a great way to have prolonged foreplay before you head to the bedroom to continue enjoying each other. Or, you can let the water drain out of the tub and stand in the shower spray to continue the water-enhanced activity. Do be careful, though. Being immersed in hot water can make you light-headed, and using oils and bath bubbles may make the tub slippery!

After
Dry each other off lovingly, maybe slipping into some sexy lounging robes. You may feel hungry or thirsty, so enjoy a light (or indulgent) snack. Fresh fruit, bread and cheese, chocolate, smoked salmon, caviar, whatever you like. Finish your champagne or wine, but make sure you stay hydrated with some water, as you probably lost some fluids soaking in that hot water. Maybe you will want to follow up the bath with a sensual massage or foot rub. Maybe you will both be so relaxed or satiated you will want to drift right off to sleep. Whatever way you choose to end the evening, you will probably both have to admit you will have to do this again soon!
