General Background:

I was born in Dublin, Ireland but my parents and I moved to New York when I was only 4 years old. My mother is a painter and when my father was offered an engineering job in the US, it seemed like very fitting for them to accept the offer and move our family to the Big Apple. I don't remember much before our arrival in New York but I have been back to Ireland to visit family a lot.

I didn't really take after my mother or my father. I developed instead a passion for travel and for the martial arts. My father enrolled me in Karate when I was nine after finally giving in to my constant pestering.

Little did he know how serious I was about it! I know have my 8th degree black belt and am struggling hard to get my 9th. I never went to university or attempted any form of higher education since my training has always taken up a huge part of my life. I did manage however to take some night classes in Mandarin which came in quite handy when I travelled throughout Asia.
 
Now my life is pretty much dedicated to my Karate training. As a job, I teach the lower belts in my Dojo. It's a lot of fun, sometimes I get to work with the white belts and I see so many little boys who remind me of what I was like at their age! 


What I Look For In A Woman:

Physical appearance has never meant much to me. Of course I do love a woman who is physically active but that's more because I enjoy sports and physical activities then it is for the look of her body. What I look for, I guess, is someone who knows what they want in life. Whether it is to be an artist, a business women, or even a waitress... if that is what they are passionate about and want to do, I can admire that. Obviously it helps if we have things in common like a love for travelling, but I also look for someone who can teach me things that I didn't know. I like being able to debate with my partners!


Hobbies:

Travelling, travelling and more travelling! Ha ha. But seriously I love experiencing different cultures. I guess it helps that I'm used to crossing an ocean to go see my family and that from Ireland it is pretty easy to go visit Europe.

I have also developed a love of horseback ridding, although it is not something that I get to do that often and I don't think that I would ever want to own a horse. My favorite hobby is doing new things I guess. Like last summer I took up Kayaking because a friend of mine loves doing it. I'm willing to try anything at least once!

Favorite Experience:

This one time I signed up for a guided tour of Tibet. It is really hard to visit there with China's governmental restrictions. You pretty much have to take a guided tour, it is almost impossible to go their on your own as a tourist. Anyways this tour was really neat. We got to do a bunch of stuff that you don't expect. My favorite experience was from this tour. We were a very small group of six people and our tour guide got us to buy two llamas which we named Rocco and Sally. Our goal was to use Rocco and Sally to get to the next village and to try and sell them in the next market. But before we tried to haggle a good sales price we learned how to shear them for their wool and how to load them up with our bundles. It was so much fun to try and get a good price in the market for our two llamas! It was really an experience that you don't get that often when you are a tourist, kind of made us all feel as though we were very savvy.
