General Background:
I grew up in Detroit with my parents and two brothers, we were lucky enough to have a dad with a good job that allowed my mother to stay at home with us until  my youngest brother turned 12. My dad owned a little hardware store so my first job involved stocking the shelves and cleaning the store. My brothers and I spent most of our free time either at the store with our dad or at the community center. I always loved going there and playing basketball with the other kids. Since at the store there were only adults to talk to, I found myself creating a secondary family at the center. Which would probably explain my vocation in later on in life!

I managed to stick through school and eventually saved up enough money working as a handy man to be able to go to university and get my bachelors degree in social working. I continued to go to the community center but this time doing volunteer work, until eventually, once I got my degree, I managed to get a paying job as the center's coordination director. It's a fancy title but I pretty much just organize activities for the kids, fundraisers, community awareness programs and make sure that the building is in good shape. I couldn't ask for more in life. There kids really are still part of my secondary family.

What I Look For In A Woman:

I'm a very open minded person and not very picky. Although I do have a few traits that I look for in a women when we go out on our first couple of dates. A love for kids is something that is a must. Not only because of my job but because I spend a lot of off work hours at the center and I need a girlfriend who is just as comfortable around these kids as I am...they are family after all! I also hate vanity. It's fine to know that you look good or sneak peaks at yourself in the reflections of store windows but I have met some women who think of nothing else. It's fine to look good but that's not what really counts in my books.

Hobbies:

I love to go to restaurants with live entertainment! My favorites are always jazz clubs. There's just something about live music that can never be recreated on a cd. My other hobby which I started when I was a teenager is playing the guitar. It's a lot of fun because I can bring my guitar to work and play for the kids. I love playing an instrument that I can bring everywhere I go. Last year I had a fundraiser calling for donations of old instruments. We managed to get an old drum kit, piano and a couple of old guitars. So our project and I guess my off work hobby for the last year has been to provide the kids with free music lessons. We have volunteer musicians who try to come in once a week to help out on Sunday nights.

Favorite Experience:

Seriously, I cannot pick one single experience. Seeing the look on the kids faces when we presented the instruments to them would be one moment in time that I will always have for myself. Another would be winning a basket ball game when I was seven by actually making the hoop for once! There are so many things that I hold as having equal importance in my life and that I cherish equally that it's too hard to choose!
