General Background:

I grew up in the Dominican Republic and moved to California with my Aunt and Uncle when when I was just 13 years old. My parents had me move with them so that I could go to school in the United States. I found it really hard to be away from my parents but my Aunt and uncle gave me more than enough love, plus it wasn't as hard as it could have been, if let's say we had moved instead to Vermont where there is snow! I made friends easily enough and I think that I was blessed at easily fitting in to my new environment compared to others kids I know who have come here form other countries.

Since I was a young boy I knew what I wanted to be, a veterinarian. My Grandfather had been the local animal doctor and my own father had learned everything from him and had taken over his business once my grandfather was too old to work. I spent so many of my childhood days watching both of them care for our neighbors sick animals and pets that it just came naturally to me to take care of animals as well. Although my father made good enough money working at home, He dreamed of having his son go to university and so off I went to California in hopes of getting a better education.

I was a strange kid who always loved learning and school was pretty easy for me. I think knowing what I wanted to do helped a lot. I finished my high school and then went on to get accepted to a vet school and within a couple of years finished my degree. I could have moved back to the Dominican when I graduated, but I had really settled into the Californian way of life and so after working as an assistant for a vet, I had saved up enough to open up my own practice. I do go visit my parents two months of every year and I think maybe I'll end up going back once I retire, but maybe not.

What I Look For In A Woman:

I love all women! What I look for though is maybe a bit different than most men in California. I find many women here are so obsessed with their looks and that turns me off. It is not that I don't find physical attraction important... of course it is important! But I like women who are not self obsessed. For example I like a woman who has a good appetite. I don’t like these girls who eat nothing but salad and whose thigh I could wrap my hand around. It's not healthy and it's not sexy. So I like a woman who is healthy, mind and body. She has to like to dance and oh yes, she must like animals!

Hobbies:

I love dancing, dancing is a bit part of my culture and there's nothing like the feeling of letting your body move to the rhythm of the music without any thoughts. I also loved spending time on the beach and going swimming. I have to admit, I'm not very good at surfing or anything like that. In the Dominican though, I also love going scuba diving, it's something I do every time I visit my family. Oh yes, I also garden a lot. California is a bit like home, you can grow so many things. I like being able to go into my backyar and pick some fruit for my breakfast!

Favorite Experience:

My favorite experience is how I met my wife. She brought in a puppy that she found on the side of the road. Someone had thrown it out of their car, it is something that happens a lot more than I would like to think about. On weekends I do emergency calls, and it happens that she found my number in a phone book and called me right away to bring this puppy to me. It had a broken leg, broken rib and tail. I could tell right away how sweet she was. She was in university and did not have that much money. When I told her the bill she just nodded but I could see tears in her eyes. After asking her what was wrong she confessed that she could barely make the payment, let alone care for the puppy since she works and goes to school all day. So, against my policy, I offered to keep the dog if she would come visit it often. You should have seen her face light up. She was so happy and grateful!

She ended up coming every second day to go for a walk with me and Rover, as the puppy ended up being called. I learned that we had a lot in common, she was going to school in marine biology, so she was also caring for animals. Sometimes I think it was fate that Rover was rejected by who ever owned him. He's a great dog, a good friend and he let me meet the love of my life!
