General Background:

I grew up in England and Belgium and moved to the states in 1982 with my family. I currently live in Boston where I'm a rigger for the entertainment industry. (for those who are wondering, Riggers are the guys {and girls} who hang the speakers, lights and other heavy stuff at rock concerts or other special events. Although I love living in Boston, I'm starting to feel a real pull to move to the country, or at least far enough out that I can live in the country but work in  a city.  I'm starting to need more and more nature in my daily life, bricks and asphalt just can't compare to trees and mountains.  Lying out under a canopy of stars is also far more rewarding than the light pollution you get in a big town.  That kind of natural atmosphere just makes me feel a little more connected to the rest of the world.

What I Look For In A Woman:

I joke that what I want is Eleanor Roosevelt in a pin-up's body, but the truth is, I'm looking for my best friend with a strong dose of romance. I guess I'm looking for a study in contrasts.  Someone with whom I'm comfortable enough to be myself, but who will keep me on my toes, surprise me, show me new things to discover about her.  The best relationships I've found are the ones where no plans are made, we just gravitate towards each other and travel on together.  I look for things like laugh lines, and a twinkle in the eye, I look for things like tousled hair and a thrown together outfit - that says to me that this is a woman can be spontaneous and not worry too much about appearance and propriety.  I also love in a woman, the ability to be the aggressor, to go out and, if not grab what you want, at least to let it be known their interested.  Be confident and yourself and that will grab my eye.

What I Like Most About Women:

I love the way that women smell, with or without perfume, I love that they are soft in all those fabulous places.   I'm amazed (and completely confused) by the way women think.  If you don't think men and women think differently - watch a couple argue - it's like they're speaking different languages.  I love how women are instinctively all about nuance and shading whereas men tend to be far more about hard edges and black and white  I love the small of a woman's back (quite possibly the most perfect shape ever created).  More than anything else though I love that women seem to have a sense of having the upper hand at any given moment - you may disagree, but that's my impression and I'm sticking to it.  Women are amazing creatures.  I've been trying to figure Y'all out for close to thirty years and I fully expect to spend the rest of my life getting no closer to understanding you.

Hobbies:

I tend to like to do things that allow my conscious mind to shut off and just live in the moment.  Climbing is like that .  I'll all of a sudden realize that I've gone for an hour without thinking about where to put my hand or foot.  Cooking is the same way - I don't think when I cook, it's instinct - a little of this and a bit of that and if you don't end up with what you expected, it's still pretty good.  I love music, I'll lose  myself in a piece and wake up at the end surprised that it's over.  In a way I guess all those things allow a connection to the universe, an unconscious channel to just exist on instinct and feeling.  So I suppose my hobbies are a way of shutting out the din and not having to think for a while, just to be. I also have a deep love for animals especially my cat Huey, who happens to be the world's cutest fat orange and white Tabby.

Favorite Experience:

There have been a lot of great experiences.  Climbing in the Grand Canyon was amazing.  Being onstage at a concert and looking out at 60,000 people all staring back at you is a pretty cool thing to experience. Being 10 feet away from James Hetfield, Metallica. And having 65,000 people looking right at me (back stage) makes you feel insignificant and 10 feet tall at the same time. But my favourite experiences have been more personal and intimate.  The memory of a particular person and the way she smelled or something she said.  Those are the moments whose memory brings a smile before falling asleep.
