There are many healthy reasons to both have and not have pubic hair. The idea of pubic hair removal is nothing new; for centuries many cultures have had different opinions for all sorts of reasons. Some civilizations find pubic hair intolerable on women or on both men and women. In today's world, this is an up-and-coming hot topic.

Apparently there is a large group of men out there who actually expect women to "clean up" their act. One of my girlfriends recently shared a confidence with me that she actually had a man friend tell her to "clean" it up before they could continue their sexual adventure. To my ultimate surprise my friend immediately complied and happily greeted her male friend with her finished product.

I imagine most women have tried to shave at some point or another. We all learn the hard way that you have to maintain it or suffer the re-growth.

Never mind the embarrassment some women may experience at looking like a young girl again, how about being self-conscious of letting the doctor in on your secret? If you do shave or wax, I say be proud of your individual choice and screw the doctor (not literally); he/she may have shaved too!

The genitals really are just another body part and yours to do with what you will. I simply had no idea that the "clean look" (as clean-shaven is often referred to) has become so popular and sometimes a requirement from men.
First of all, I'd like to know if these men shave. The idea of a man shaving seemed to surprise the men I talked with.

Most men said they like the clean look because it just looks better, it's sexier and adventurous-looking. They say they suppose they've learned to expect the clean look from all the thongs women are wearing these days; that's true, we certainly can't have hair hanging out of our thongs, can we? And of course, many men have said less hair means having a better advantage for oral stimulation. Okay, I think they won me over; these are valid points. Maybe women should reconsider these modern-day views and ask their partners what they think.

At any rate, shaving can be very attractive. The new look of a thin strip down the middle, referred to as a "runway", "landing strip" or "mohawk" is sexy. There's also the lighting bolt and too many other designs to mention. While women may be comfortable shaving above the clitoris, around the labia and anus areas may be completely different. Not to worry, all of these areas can be "cleaned up" safely at home by you and/or your partner or by a professional. It always comes back to personal choice.

Many spas offer the bikini wax, Brazilian wax, etc. Many websites offer detailed shaving instructions. There's even artwork and jewelry available for a woman's genital area to help show off your new style! You name it, it's out there! These are great times ladies and I say go for it and enjoy! Let the fun begin...

So what's a good shaving technique? or should you opt for waxing instead. For more information check out the articles on the Sex 101 main menu.
