Love Songs - Elton John
Price - $14.99
Average Rating:
The songs are gorgeous. Love songs are ususally sappy and pointless, but the ones here aren't. Elton finds every bit of soul and depth in them and sings them for all they're worth. The musicianship on the album is equally top calibre. There's a reason this guy's been around for so long -- he's a genuine talent who speaks to people of all ages. I love listening to this CD after a hard day. It helps me unwind. Makes perfect background music, and the songs are great to sing along to. From C. in Nanaimo, B.C. Canada

Love Makes the World - Carole King
Price - $13.49
Average Ratings
:
This is an amazing album--the one we've been waiting for. The sound is crisp, the songs are wonderful and Carole's voice touches your heart. Two songs--Uncommon Love and You Will Find Me There--brought tears to my eyes. Carole King has a way of singing that communicates all the emotion behind a song. Her voice aches and breaks in all the right places. Ends up sounding like she's singing these songs just to you. For me, the trademark of a Carole King song is the melody that sticks in your head...and true to form, I can't stop singing "I can't stop believing--Love Makes the World go 'round." A healing thought for these dark days. I love this album. From A Music Fan in PA

Love Songs - Michael Bolton
Price - $11.98
Average Rating:
It's not hard to be a fan of Michael Bolton's music. His voice is deep and rich, his style is that of the old crooners. He has the ability to make you feel emotion through his songs and they shine through on every song on this CD. The Arms of Love was a great way to end the CD. So if you really want some romantic music, this one is a keeper! From Sssh.Com

Love Songs - The Carpenters
Price - $14.99
Average Rating:
There was a time, before Karen Carpenter was born, when most American female popular singers, even the black ones, sounded a lot like the way she would one day sound. The music of singer-drummer Carpenter and her piano-playing brother Richard came to be called soft rock, but it's really just good, straight American pop. This CD, released in March 1998, is a collection of greatest hits, with a special emphasis on romance. Paul Williams, Burt Bacharach, Sam Lewis, and Victor Young provide lovely melodies, and Carpenter's expressive voice makes each song genuinely affecting. From Amazon.Com

Barry White's All-Time Greatest Hits
Price - $13.99
Average Rating:
A MOST SEDUCTIVE COLLECTION OF HITS! What makes Barry White's Greatest Hits so great is that the theme of each song is consistent. And that theme is hot romance to the max. Barry White has been able to deliver the message of love as only a true gentleman can. He commands it in a deep baritone voice that can drive the women wild as opposed to those squealing falsetto attempts that never really made it to first base.

Fumbling Towards Ecstasy - Sarah McLachlan
Price - $13.98
Average Rating:
I'm not sure there's words in the English language to describe the pure emotion concealed in the poetry of the beautiful lyrics and the melody of Sarah's incredible voice. I can, however, say that this is one of the most stunning CDs I have ever heard... and I will say exactly that, because it's true. Sarah has a positive genius for capturing the essense of what makes us human in her songs, lending them a depth that sets them apart from many shallow "contemporary" artists of the day. Her words have impact. You can't help being drawn in by their honesty and sheer poetic grace. From T in CA, USA

Titanic: Music from the Motion Picture
Price - $13.98
Average Rating:
James Horner did an extraordinary job with his music to the movie Titanic. Without it I couldn't imagine it being so emotional. It added much to the heartbreaking effect of the movie and the music is I think the main reason why many people cried in the movie, especially when the band played their last song, Nearer my God to Thee. Every time I hear the soundtrack I relive the scenes in the movie again. My favourite song is "My heart will go on" by Celine Dion. It is so overwhelming to hear it. Everyone who loves the movie must have this soundtrack! From a Music Fan in Germany

Let's Get It On - Marvin Gaye
Price - $11.98
Average Rating:
Marvin Gaye's 1973 album, Let's Get It On, is a marvel of sexual blandishment every bit the artistic equal of, say, John Donne's best seduction poems. The difference, though, is that the poetry here isn't in the verse--which gets a trifle clichéd--but in the supple pulse of the grooves and in the aching need of Gaye's sensual voice. The marvelous title track, a No. 1 hit, riffs on the earlier hook of Gaye's "What's Going On" to reach a more primal climax, and everything else here--a steamy swirl of sax, strings, and backing voices--is sexy, beautiful, and simply sublime.
